Acoustics

Acoustic function

VILD Atelier’s acoustic wall panels bring together calm, warmth and refinement in one powerful design. They naturally reduce reverberation and harsh sound reflections, while also functioning as unique art objects with a rich and distinctive presence.

Sheep’s wool is known for its exceptional sound-absorbing qualities. Wool consists of millions of tiny air pockets that absorb and diffuse sound waves rather than reflecting them. Its rich, natural fibre structure effectively softens and absorbs sound, noticeably reducing reverberation and harsh reflections.

Sheep’s wool also has unique moisture-regulating properties. The natural material absorbs moisture from the air and gradually releases it again, helping it remain stable and maintain its high-quality acoustic performance under changing conditions.

The result is a durable, luxurious and timeless acoustic wall panel in which functionality, natural materials and aesthetics come together.

Natural materials

VILD Atelier’s wall panels contribute to softer acoustics and a more refined spatial experience. The acoustic panels are made using sheep’s wool sourced from the Netherlands and across Europe. Wherever possible, the studio works with local wool from the beautiful island of Texel, creating a short and transparent chain from sheep and farmer to craft and finished piece.

The handmade process gives each artwork its own unique texture and natural character. Every panel is finished with a refined frame made from sustainably sourced, upcycled wood. Inside, an additional layer of sheep’s wool provides further acoustic absorption.
