current exposition: boutique hotel texel

Welcome to VILD Atelier
Travelling far to immerse myself in Indigenous cultures and communities was something I loved deeply. I was drawn to ways of life closely connected to nature, and spent time in places such as the Sri Lankan jungle, ancient sites in Mexico, the coasts of Costa Rica, with Tuareg communities, and among the Maasai in Kenya. I began translating these experiences into drawings under the name Tribes of Magic.
Alongside this, I completed degrees in Cultural Anthropology and Urban Environmental Management, which led to five years of working for engineering and consultancy firms. But my experiences and a growing desire for a different kind of life eventually pulled me in another direction. I wanted to work with my hands, learn a craft, and create with a material rooted in the place I lived.

Van reizen in stammen naar aardse eilandkunst
I found my way to Texel, the first place in the Netherlands where I truly felt at home. Before long, I discovered the island’s beautiful wool. After taking a felting course at TexelsVilt, I was completely captivated and spent the following year learning the craft in depth.
Today, I create my felted wool artworks in my own studio, VILD Atelier. It is a material I love working with: natural, tactile and full of character, while still leaving plenty of room for artistic freedom.
With gratitude to the sheep and their beautiful wool.
